Our collaboration with Anna Chaplaincy to Support Bereaved People

We’re delighted to announce a growing partnership between AtaLoss and the BRF Ministries’ Anna Chaplaincy initiative, as we work together to extend support to bereaved people across the UK.

Many Anna Chaplains are already using The Bereavement Journey® in their ministries — offering safe, structured spaces for individuals to process loss and begin healing. This collaboration builds on that good work, strengthening ties and opening new opportunities to bring spiritual care to those grieving in later life.

New Adaptation for Care Homes and Retirement Communities

In partnership with Julia Burton-Jones, Training and Development Lead for Anna Chaplaincy, we’re planning the development of a new version of The Bereavement Journey® tailored specifically for use in care home settings and retirement communities. This initiative will enable Anna Chaplains and churches to deliver sensitive, grief support to the elderly, many of whom have multiple bereavements and are isolated in their loss.

New Resource: Easy Guide to Supporting a Bereaved Person

To support this work further, our Head of Church Engagement, Rev. Nicky Grey, has written a new Easy Guide on how to support a bereaved person for the Anna Chaplaincy network.

This resource is ideal for church leaders, pastoral teams, volunteers and anyone seeking to walk alongside those who are grieving — offering clear, compassionate guidance grounded in experience.

Shared Vision, Greater Impact

We have a shared belief that the Church has a vital role to play in offering hope, healing and meaningful support to those who are bereaved.

Through this collaboration, we will be equipping churches, chaplains and communities to respond more confidently to bereavement — with practical tools, spiritual sensitivity, and genuine hospitality.

We are currently seeking funding for this project but are excited about its potential. We look forward to seeing more churches and Anna Chaplains using The Bereavement Journey® to bring comfort and connection where it is most needed.
