AtaLoss rejoices in the appointment of Patron Bishop Sarah Mullally as next Archbishop of Canterbury

3rd October 2025

AtaLoss, the UK’s national bereavement charity, has expressed joy and gratitude at the appointment of its Patron, the Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally, as the next Archbishop of Canterbury.

Only last evening, Bishop Sarah was announced as Patron of AtaLoss at a special gathering at Lambeth Palace. The charity will be writing to assure her of its prayers as she takes up this historic office.

Yvonne Tulloch, Founder and Chief Executive of AtaLoss, said:

“We warmly congratulate Bishop Sarah on her appointment and assure her of our heartfelt prayers as she takes up this calling. In her, we see a compassionate and courageous leader who understands the pain of loss and the power of hope. We are confident she will use her new role to give voice to those who grieve and to bring comfort, understanding and love to the life of the Church and the nation.”

AtaLoss’ vision is for a society where everyone is supported through bereavement and where churches play a leading role in bringing hope and healing to those who mourn.

AtaLoss welcomes appointment of its Patron Bishop Sarah Mullally as the next Archbishop of Canterbury.
